So you noticed an attractive guy moving into the house opposite your own. He has big arms, chest as big as a bag of cement, he is hairy, not the King Kong kind of hairy. But overall, he looks like what most girls would call a man.
You stumble over to his place with a basket of sweet goods, just to welcome him into the neighborhood. You ring his door bell and he opens his front door. You examine him from head to toe. He has only his shorts on, sweat dripping down his face to his chest and down his tummy. You stare awkwardly, He looks gorgeous up close.
Wake up girl, don’t you start acting weird in front of him now — your inner self screams at you.
You introduce yourself and your basket of cake and biscuits to him. He smiles, introduces himself and lets you into his home.
Days later, you become friends with him. His personality excites you. You like him a lot and he likes you (sort of.) He sees how vulnerable you are whenever you’re around him and he smirks.
Relationship should always be 50/50. If you are doing stuff to please him he should be able to do the same… but in this case, he is not. Everyone knows he’s using you except you.
Your best friend pulls you to a dark room and cries for you to wake up. You don’t understand why. She begins to explain the signs that the man your crushing on is taken advantage of you.
1. He Is All About Compliments
When was the last time your crush complimented your photo… Oh that’s right he never did. You’re always doing the complimenting. You say good things about his looks, his photos and his videos, but he never takes the time to compliment yours and even when he does, he sends you a thumbs up emoji (who does that?).
The more you praise him, the more his head swells with self-worth. If this is a one sided game, he’s using you to give himself a much needed ego boost.
2. He Asks You For Favors A Lot
Can you help cook me dinner, can you help take my dog out for a walk, can you buy this at the grocery store for me. Can you help me do this, can you help me do that? And of course, you would do all he asks of you because you like him. A lot.
Wake up. Your not his unpaid, invaluable personal assistant. Wake up and leave that guy. All he does is make you do this and make you do that and waste your precious time. You might think there is nothing wrong with doing all these for your crush, but when it’s one sided, it’s not cool.
3. He’s Quick To Pull His Pants Down
Let me be clear here, dude just wants to have sex with you. Nothing more nothing less. He doesn’t want to know anything about you. He is just ready to undo your bra and get down to business.
Don’t think you are too hot he can’t resist, don’t take that as a compliment. You’re not his plaything. If all he does whenever he sees you is have sex, you might want to run.
4. He Does Not Care About You
How many missed calls do you have to give him before he decides to pick his phone up? Does he even call you to know how you’re doing? Are you always the first to start a conversation by text? Is he nowhere to be found when you need him? Does he give you stupid excuses just to avoid hanging out with you?
You’ll know if he cares about you or not if you genuinely answer these questions.
5. He Talks About Himself All The Time
What do you know about him that you haven’t heard from him? His little job, his dog, his hobbies, he’ll even tells you about the hot woman he met at the gym the day before. He talks about himself a lot and as far as i’m concerned your job is to listen or lend a shoulder for him to cry on.
Because when it comes to you to vent out your own frustrations about something, he is no where to be found, worse he isn’t paying attention. He does not care about you — move on.
6. He Wants You To Pay for Stuff for Him
This might sound funny but, when you are that vulnerable and want to be liked by the person you have feelings for, you’d do anything to please them. He might want you to help pay for his bills and also promise to pay you back on So-So-So day.
But when that day comes he ends up giving you excuses on why he can’t pay you back and because you like him, you forget about it.
But then he keeps coming back and promising you he’d pay you back. But he’ll never pay and you know that.
His just taking your money and you need to stop giving it to him.
7. He’s Using You To Get Ahead
Never ignore the fact that there are people out there who would use others to get ahead in life. Whether is to gain popularity in a certain different social circle or business place. You don’t have to be rich and famous for him to use you to get to the top.
He has a goal and you are the only person that could lead him to it. To make matters worse you have a serious crush on him and that would only make it easier for him to step on you just to climb to the top. Don’t let that happen.
8. He Doesn’t Have A Problem Talking About His Own Crushes
You might have noticed him flirting intensely with some other prettier girls, or noticed him staring at a lady’s behind while walking together. You might have noticed one or two girls touching him inappropriately in front of you and he seems not to care.
By now you should know what to do. I don’t need to tell you.
To me, I think we should all learn not to only love with our hearts, but also with our brains too. Our brain helps to see what our heart doesn’t. It helps figure out if the person we love is just using us or not.
If you notice that your crush or the man you like has shown one or more of the signs above then you need to consider talking to him about your relationship and how you feel about being used or taken advantage of. If they don’t make changes to their behavior, it might be time to cut ties with him.
Goodluck.
