…………the question is not Whether to stop our children, it’s How?

All your life you have felt pressure. Sometimes pleasurable pressure, and other times painful. And of course neutral pressure. All are part of being alive, growing and healing. Parents fill the role of keeping children safe and loved. If we are not careful we may find ourselves keeping them safe by inflicting suffering.
Someday if your live long enough, you will breathe your last with your children. At that time what would you like to say to your children? What would you like to hear from them?
The answers to those questions are yours to choose. As long as children are with us we choose statements which define the nature of how to influence the family’s energy. Are you committed to statements furthering their self appreciation? Do you regularly love them outwardly and inwardly? How often do you pressure with anger rather than kindness?
Please consider whether you prefer anger or kindness. Do you ask them about whether you feel safe or dangerous to them? Are they ever afraid of you? Are they allowed to show their feelings? Do you let them know you also feel confusion, tiredness, challenges?
Kindness is a formidable influence both into our bodies and out into the world. Choosing kindness can demand extremely hard work if we have experienced harsh treatment that we haven’t chosen to heal.
Heal and grow now: What hurtful memory do you recall now from your childhood? What kindness are you willing to foster for that memory? Kindness to yourself is a safe yet difficult choice in your nurturing fathering.
