Unless you’re in a long-term relationship and you’ve already had “the talk” about being exclusive, don’t assume he only has eyes for you. I hear it often, “Help Gregg! He is seeing someone else!”
I didn’t prepare this to help you figure out whether or not he’s dating other women. My main purpose is to help you figure out how to handle it. More importantly, if he is seeing someone else, why I’d recommend that you see other people too!
Reason #1: It frees up your conscience to see other people too
I hesitated to write this first one because you shouldn’t feel guilty about dating other people regardless of his dating status.
Even if he was only dating you I’d still recommend that you see other people! In fact, if you’re in the relatively early stages of the relationship (months ladies, not weeks!) you should be dating other guys and not just him!
Reason #2: He’ll get more interested in you, not less
Once you realize he’s not dating you exclusively, you need to drop the “woe is me” act and get back into the dating scene! Refresh those profile pages, take some new selfies and find yourself some hot dates.
The guy you’re with now will eventually call to ask if you’d like to go out and your response will be, “Sorry, I can’t tonight. We’ll have to plan something next week.”
He will assume you might be seeing others and that’s a good thing. Now, if he is a quality guy, he tries harder because you just created a challenge.
Nothing worth having comes without a fight is what us guys say!
The important thing isn’t to gloat about seeing other guys. That will make you look childish and desperate, but, if you suddenly get busy and he realizes he doesn’t have exclusive access to you, he’s going to figure it out—and then work even harder to get your attention. Gregg, show me your #1 Amazon Best Seller so I can find a quality man!
Reason #3: He isn’t sold on you yet and now you know it
You could be completely in love with this guy, but if you realize he is seeing someone else, you now know for a fact that he doesn’t feel the same way about you. Yes, that truth hurts, but wouldn’t you rather know that he’s still out there looking?
If you never found out he was dating other women, you’d be oblivious to the fact that he’s on the fence about the relationship—right up to the point where he breaks up with you for someone else.
Reason #4: You get to keep looking for an even better guy
Instead of feeling sorry for yourself and trying to figure out why he doesn’t like you as much as you like him, get stronger and break away from the notion that he’s the only guy out there for you.
If you take my advice and date other guys, suddenly you’ll have tons of options and this one guy won’t seem as irreplaceable as he does now. PLUS you could even find a guy you like more and that’s even more compatible than what’s-his-name who you’re dating now.
Find out if you are being used by a man
Final Thoughts
Finding out he’s dating other women is a blessing in disguise. I know it doesn’t feel that way because you still really like him, but at the end of the day you have two options:
- you can get frustrated about what you’re not doing and try to change to make him like you more, OR
- you can get out there and meet other guys that may be an even better match for you.
You deserve the best guy possible – use this to your advantage and give yourself choice and comparison before settling for any guy!
Best of all, the latter option has the unintended consequence of making the guy you’re seeing now even more interested in you! It’s a no brainer! For this reason, and all of those above, I always recommend that my female clients play the field as long as possible!
