On Day 1, it felt stupid. Why am I even doing this? I was already waking up around 4:50 AM daily for the last 2 years, but waking up at 4 was not only sounding stupid, it was also exhausting. The alarm rings and I used to wonder what life choices led me to this moment. It’s pitch black outside. Even birds were sleeping. My bed was still soft and warm, and I was about to step into a world that felt like it was holding a grudge against me.
The first few mornings were pure misery. I fumbled around the kitchen half-asleep, spilling coffee, cursing quietly because even my voice felt too loud for this hour. Everything about it felt stupid.
But then, something happens. Somewhere around day 15, the grogginess doesn’t hit as hard. The coffee starts tasting like a possibility instead of survival. And I realized something extraordinary: the world is quieter at 4 AM.
Not just quieter, it is peaceful. Like it’s waiting for me to do something magical with it.
By day 20, it feels less like punishment and more like being a part of a secret club. My own 4 AM Club. Not the fancy kind with velvet ropes, but the kind where the password is sheer grit. It’s me, the early morning, and this strange, unspoken understanding that I am doing something most people won’t even attempt.
I started to feel more productive. When people around me complain about not having enough time, I bite my tongue because I have been awake for hours and have already done more with my day than they will by lunch.
Around day 35, my body started adjusting. I stopped feeling like a zombie anymore. With every passing day, there was less resistance, like my brain finally understood that this was the new normal. And by day 50, I am not just waking up early, now I am living early.
The mornings have become mine. No calls, No messages, No emails, No notifications, No demands. Just me, the silence, and the chance to decide who I am going to be today.
And that’s the thing no one tells you about waking up at 4 AM. It’s not just about being productive or disciplined or whatever buzzword people like to throw around. It’s about creating a version of yourself that you didn’t know you were capable of being.
Someday, I will write about what I do at 4:00 AM.
Till then Cya.
