Kamala Harris and her newly announced running mate, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, should ask voters an important question as they crisscross the country campaigning in battleground states this week:
Is Donald Trump…okay?
Trump’s political behavior has always been unconventional, to put it mildly. However, are his recent words and actions indicative of a larger health issue?
It’s obvious that Trump has been deeply rattled and unsettled on the campaign trail since President Biden dropped out of the race. This has been evident by the language Trump has used in his speeches and other public remarks.
But is it possible that Trump is having a mental health meltdown, especially as his poll numbers drop due to Harris upending the presidential race?
Trump’s recent conduct has led some observers to question if he’s really gone “off the rails” this time, because it’s beyond his typical outrageous political behavior.
Praising Putin, Smearing Republicans
At a campaign event Saturday night in Atlanta, Trump went out of his way to extol Russia’s Vladimir Putin for the recent hostage deal with the United States. This was strange in and of itself.
He also spent considerable time attacking two-term Republican Governor Brian Kemp of Georgia for being disloyal to him by upholding the 2020 election results statewide.
You may remember when the audio of Trump’s phone call with Kemp was made public, in which the former president asked the governor to “find” over 11,000 votes in order to change the election results.
This raises an intriguing question: Why would Trump praise a warmongering anti-American dictator, while castigating a popular governor of his own party in a critical swing state he needs to win in November?
This is not rational political behavior, not even for Trump.
Who is Trump loyal to: America, the Republican Party or Russia’s Putin? It would appear to be the latter.
Overt Racism and Sexism
Only a couple of days before that, Trump questioned whether Kamala Harris is really Black — yes, you read that correctly.
He made the racist accusation in front of a room full of prominent Black journalists. Is this normal behavior for a presidential nominee?
Imagine if Vice President Harris had questioned Trump’s race in front of a room full of White journalists, implying that he only decided to call himself White for political expediency.
Obviously, such an argument would be ludicrous, as is Trump’s wild contention about the racial identity of Harris — which smacks of overt racism.
Trump has also launched a range of other personal attacks on Harris based on her mixed-race identity and gender.
His latest gem is calling Kamala by a new name: “Kamabla”. This sounds like another racist dog whistle to Trump’s White supremacist MAGA base.
As part of mocking her racial identity and gender, Trump has also lampooned Harris as being “dumb as a rock” and “a low IQ person” — in addition to a slew of other juvenile personal insults.
How do such personal attacks on Harris help Trump gain the support of the undecided and independent voters he needs to win the election?
Again, is this rational political behavior in a very close election?
As Gov. Walz said of Trump and his extreme right-wing running mate, Senator JD Vance, “These guys are creepy and weird as hell”.
These are just the latest examples of Trump’s erratic behavior, which goes beyond just weird.

Losing His Mind
Trump also recently told a conference of conservative Christians that Harris dislikes Catholics and Jews— even though Biden is Catholic, and Kamala’s husband is Jewish (article above).
And let’s not forget about Trump’s repeated insinuations that Americans will be eaten by the likes of movie character “Hannibal Lecter” due to an impending immigrant invasion if Harris is elected.
What’s that all about and why does he repeat it?
And, if being eaten by a fictitious cannibal serial killer weren’t crazy enough, Trump has also asked the crowd at campaign events whether it’s preferable to be eaten by sharks versus being electrocuted in a sinking boat?
Trump says he would rather be electrocuted than be eaten by sharks. This is simply mind-boggling stuff. Plus, many other examples abound of Trump’s more recent disturbing conduct.
Trump’s baffling behavior reinforces the worst fears of some voters who already think he’s gone insane.

Final Thoughts
Is Trump just running scared or is his mental health actually deteriorating in full public view and in real time?
The conventional wisdom is that Trump has become increasingly agitated by the new political reality of competing against Harris instead of Biden. But has Trump also become untethered from reality, as his poll numbers continue to decline nationally and in critical swing states since Kamala got into the race?
If all of the aforementioned questions have you wondering about Trump’s mental fitness for office, then you’re not alone.
Additionally, lest we forget, Trump is a convicted felon with several criminal trials looming.
Trump’s latest unsteady assertion is, “TIM WALZ WILL UNLEASH HELL ON EARTH!” (all caps verbatim) per a campaign text message sent to supporters after Harris announced her new running mate.
Does this sound like a stable person or someone who might be experiencing a mental health crisis?
Asking aloud whether Trump is okay would be a smart strategic pivot for the Harris-Walz campaign as they visit battleground states this week. It would be a logical follow-up question to the politically effective portrayal of Trump and Vance being just plain weird.
Let’s face it, Trump has been through a lot this year. But is he really, okay?
That’s questionable based on Trump’s own words and deeds.
