I’ve been thinking about you these past few days, more and more,
Maybe it’s because I saw you a few days ago.
When I say I’ve been thinking about you, I mean about us,
about how our relationship could have been if we had met now for the first time.
I’ve been reflecting on the moments we spent together, how you were my first, and how I wished you could have been my last.
I’ve been thinking about you these past few days, as you are the only thing close to romantic love I ever felt
And if I let go of you now, I’d be letting go of everything I thought love should be
of a happy ever after…
I’ve been romanticizing about us these past few days,
You made me feel things I never felt before
and it seems as if I can’t let go of you yet
but I have to…
Letting go of you doesn’t mean letting go of what love is because now,
I’ve changed…
and so did my definition of love.
With you, I experienced the love I believed in at that time.
I’ve been thinking about you these past few days,
and I may still do from time to time.
But now, I know I’m ready.
I’m ready to let the idea of you dissolve and to rewrite my new story of love.
I am a hopeless romantic, so you’ll always have a part of me,
which I now intend to keep in the past.
I’ve been thinking about you these past few days,
but now I’m letting you go…
Please take with you all of our memories, as I already lived them,
Take with you the version of me you met before; I know she did her best.
Now, I am ready to come back to me, the me that grew without you,
the me you never met and never will…
Because the love she is opening herself to is far from what we could have been.
