A dad of two spoke to my daughter: “Today is Teddy day! Do you have teddys?”
My daughter: “Yes!” (with a smile.)
I asked her dad: “What day is today?”
Her dad (my hubby) replied: “Friday.”
I laughed loudly and his expression was worth a million dollars. He couldn’t understand what was so funny in the name of a day. In his defense, he continued, “Yes, tomorrow is Saturday, and so today is Friday.” Simple, direct.
Every man knows the answer, but what they give as an answer is different. Sometimes the answer from a man meets our expectations, but a lot of the time they do not. When men might not know the answer; they can be cute in figuring it out, at other times their ignorance speaks of their innocence, and that’s even cuter!
I must admit Men’s minds have always intrigued me. Whether it is my father, my grandfathers, uncle, friends, or my husband, I’m lucky enough to always see the bright side of the men in my life, or I can say my sixth sense keeps the dark sides at bay. The fact is men, like all other humans, have both bright and dark sides. Their lighter side is so subtle and beautiful that it often goes unnoticed or overlooked.
Being a woman, I can relate to how another woman might feel about this subject, but men seem to be totally different. I won’t say difficult, because many men are more direct in expressing unlike a lot of women. For instance, when a woman says there is no problem and sighs, it probably means there is a big issue, and you should know what it is. Some men don’t understand that. Otherwise, they might have realized when to be supportive and when to disengage.
Life is a constant learning experience through Trial and Error; many times when men are right, they are made to feel low or wrong due to other’s ignorance.
In a simple explanation, they are right. How can they read minds? Whether you agree or not, my experience shows me that many women are born with stronger intuitions and gut feelings which help them feel things at a distance.
Many men, on the other hand, are like a brain oriented computer system. For every output, you need to write a program and then definitely remember to press the ENTER key! Otherwise, the task might not be executed. It’s the way some men are. No matter how intelligent or intellectual, some men fail to understand what is on another’s mind and if it’s a woman’s mind then, of course, it’s more puzzling than a puzzle.
Valentine’s Day is a memorable day, we are reminded all around us of its approach, but remembering a Teddy Day! I was overwhelmed, and at the same time, my female curiosity was aroused. I asked him how he knew about Teddy Day. He passed a humble smile, and while looking at his mobile phone, told me that since the onset of the week he has been getting reminder messages from his children. After saying this, he departed.
I’m sure many dads out there might find the story relevant. When a man becomes a father, as their children grow, they get to learn new things which their partners may have failed to teach!
I walked away with my daughter and told myself that my man would also remember Teddy Day in due time when our three-year-old daughter grows up and acts as a reminder alarm.
