What do women want from men? I don’t know. I am an old white woman born into US culture in 1956 and after lo these many years, I do know what I want from men, and from any man who was my man. I will tell you that right now.
I want peace between us.
Peace between humans is a non-trivial pursuit.
Peace comes when we see each other as persons not opportunities or crutches, not protectors or caregivers, but who we are when we drop identity and become the soft, maddening creatures we actually are.
For instance, this is one of my living room’s corners. Can you see any man alive in the USA today who would accept such a living room corner as the price of living with me?
I like to sleep on that futon in the living room instead of in my bedroom with the kingsized bed. Why? Because I feel embraced when curled up on the futon, but alone and vulnerable in the kingsized bed.
I also go to sleep between 630–730 so I can get up at 4 or 5 and write for medium and other projects before my day job starts at 8.
What man would put up with that?
I have the warts of unexpected farts that my yoga-fied behind improvisationally gifts me and anyone else present.
Recall I am 64. I wake up with bad breath.
I am a wildcat introvert, please let’s go hike and then have beer!

Men are like me, all different than the blow-up fighting superhero, perfect provider, hot in bed lover, always there for us whether we are up or down, sold to us by media of all types.
