A man has got to do what a man has got to do, so if the activities of humans are on the way to making Planet Earth uninhabitable, a good man should be doing something about that. What I did was I went to see the movie, An Inconvenient Sequel, Truth To Power, (2017).
The original film, An Inconvenient Truth, won a Oscar, and former Vice President Al Gore, received a Nobel Prize for the work he did that was portrayed in the movie. I found the sequel quite entertaining. The small art house cinema I went to was about half full.
The highlight of the film was Al Gore’s heroic efforts to make the Paris Climate Accord happen. The Paris Climate Accord was signed in December 2015 by a bunch of countries who agreed to limit their production of “green house gases.” Gore’s access to heads of State and corporation power bases is depicted as being a big part of what it takes to save the Planet.
The film released on July 28, 2017. It was apparently updated after June 1, 2017, before hitting theaters. The update was President Donald Trump announcing that he would see to it that the United States withdraws its support for the agreement.
Now you would think that Trump doing this would be very convenient for ticket sales. Rumor has it there are many people that are in favor of anything that Trump is against. You would think that this would register at the box office. I expected some gasps and Trump inspired tongue clicks in the audience. There was mainly silence during and after the showing of the film I attended. I counted one tongue click.

I read that the ticket sales for the original movie totaled fifty million dollars on the day it was released. The take for the sequel was one million dollars. I guess that climate change disasters aren’t as entertaining as they once were.
Before going to the theatre I went to a bookstore. I saw the book is being released along with the movie. The book gives the reader everything they need to conduct a climate change workshop of the kind. Gore is shown giving to groups across the globe. In the film he let it be known that he is very encouraged about the future of the weather by the turn out for these workshops. The film doesn’t describe Gore’s predictions for how much his personal finances will benefit.
Gore’s estimated net worth when he was Vice President was under 2 million dollars. Today it is over 300 million dollars. What is the main enterprise responsible for this? Wait for it. . .partnership in an investment company specializing in environmentally friendly investments, of course. This seems like adequate compensation for playing his part in trying to save the Planet.
I see no reason to go on to mock Gore’s reported personal efforts to reduce the carbon footprint made by powering up his multiple homes that he needs to keep a roof over his head. Why bother mentioning that the now deceased scientist, Roger Revelle, who got Gore interested in green houses gases and climate change when Gore was a student at Harvard, later lectured that he had over estimated the role that such gases probably play in climate change.
That the weather across the Planet is getting increasingly inconvenient is undeniable. That nobody has a clue what to do about it is becoming increasingly obvious. It is clear that few men care.
On two occasions in the film, Gore describes a review of weather related disasters world wide, as being similar to those described in the book of Revelations in the Bible. What is left, but to hope that the vision attributed to Jesus Christ, where the defilers of the Planet are dealt with via Divine intervention is the answer.
What will I do about climate change? Pray that God’s will be done.
