So!!!!
Loving Somebody With Your Whole Heart Is Beautiful — until It Isn’t.
Mira had always believed that love was meant to be selfless, unshakeable, and unconditional. She assumed that the more she sacrificed, the more he would appreciate her worth. And it did work initially. But what she did not realize was that by loving him more than herself, she was slowly disappearing.
The Fairytale Beginning
They met for the first time on a drizzly afternoon in a tiny bookshop. He watched her struggle with a turned-inside-out umbrella. With a silver smile and easy confidence, he offered to help. That was when Mira’s heart skipped a beat.
He was everything she had ever dreamed of — intelligent, funny, and randomly generous. He treated her like royalty, as if she were the only person in the world who existed. It was a whirlwind romance, the kind that made her friends envious and her heart skip a beat.
But love, as she later discovered, is not always enough.
When Love Becomes Sacrifice
At first, she let minor things slide. One time, he forgot her birthday. Another time, he canceled dinner at the last minute. He rarely inquired about her day. “He’s just busy,” she’d say to herself. “He loves me in his own way.”
Then she started changing for him. She dressed the way he wanted her to. She found humor in the jokes that weren’t funny. She closed up when he dismissed her suggestions. She lost pieces of herself, little by little, until she was only the part of herself that pleased him.
The irony? He never asked her to make these concessions. She just kept offering, thinking that it would make him stay.
The Breaking Point
One night, after yet another subdued dinner at which he barely looked at her, something inside Mira reached its breaking point.
She fabricated an excuse, went into the bathroom, and looked into the mirror. Her own reflection stared back. The bright-eyed girl, the laugh-out-loud girl, the dreamer who spent entire notebooks scribbling down ideas — she was gone.
And that’s when it hit her.
She had loved him more than she loved herself. And that was her worst error.
The Hardest Goodbye
Mira did not disappear immediately. Love, when unkind, does not disappear all at once. It took time, tears, and a lot of self-doubting.
But there was one morning when she woke up and realized that she deserved better. Not a love that forced her to disappear, but one that noticed her, loved her, and honored her.
So, she disappeared.
Not with anger, not with regret, but with the soft strength of a woman who at last chose herself.
The Lesson She Wants You To Know
Love will never require you to lose yourself. The right one will never make you shrink so they can shine.
Mira’s story isn’t hers alone — it’s for anyone who has ever given their heart to someone else and forgotten to hold a little back for themselves.
Because the best love story you will ever know is the one that you write to yourself.
