Daily Mo Update
As the Mo continues to grow, I continue to fuss with the idea of cutting my hair. The thing is that I can’t decide if I look stranger with or without my hair + mustache combo. Well, I suppose I won’t know till I try it.
In other news: over at the GMP Dads and Families page I co-host a weekly YouTube Series called #AskADad and this week is special. Tune in soon for our special Movember episode where we take questions on all things Mo!

Daily Mo Update
In keeping with the team theme, for anyone not participating in Movember, “I find your lack of Mo disturbing.” For all others, “Impressive. Most impressive.”
Movember Awareness
Reflective thought of the day: Creating a positive mental attitude and overcoming issues like depression are actually alot like growing a mustache. Not everyone will like the new you and those who don’t either don’t matter or are probably jealous. Grooming your mentality, like grooming your mustache is something that takes practice, patience, and confidence. Sometimes they grow in patchy and you have to find a way to work around things. At the end of the day, nobody can grow one for you, so stop being envious and take action.

Daily Mo Update
Beardly hanging in there. My face is getting fuzzier than the Easter Bunny and I’ve taken to lotions and conditioners to start making it soft. It’s so much nicer today than it has been. It’s also starting to do its job of keeping my face warm.

“So this is how liberty dies…with thunderous applause.” – Padmé Amidala
I feel like I am doing injustice to the fandom, as I am a Star Wars fan (Spoilers!), but not in a traditional sense. The story is the archetypal hero’s quest. Joseph Campbell’s The Hero with a Thousand Faces, gave us the most fundamental run-through of this arc, with which Lucas used to create Star Wars. I shouldn’t say ‘used’— Lucas took Campbell’s outline, set up a bunch of paints, took some drugs, rolled around on a canvas, added a touch of Sci-Fi, and viola — Star Wars. Ok. Maybe that’s a little harsh. Lucas is a great writer, and Star Wars, is one of the greatest stories ever told. The depth of characterization that takes place across the entire series is stupendous. But Star Wars, like many other works of fiction that we fill our minds with, serves a greater purpose.
I’m a firm believer that writers and artists tell our future. Our imaginations and creative drives are connections to the cosmic ether, from which we pull pieces of a possible future back to the present. Writer’s give us a glimpse at a possible future— at a possible outcome— at a possible existence; and, it is up to us to make sure that the mistakes their characters make are not mistakes that we make. Follow my quote. Watch as evil slips in and freedom is swallowed whole into the belly of the beast. This is a possible outcome of our future if we do not embrace the truth of our existence— the simple truth of life. Love is the key. Love solves all problems. We are broken and beaten and battered because we belittle ourselves and become beleaguered by battalions of betrayers. Being free in a world that claims freedom but offers subtle subjugation— we wonder why we suffer mentally on a daily basis.
My Star Wars lesson of the day: “Do. Or do not. There is no try.” – Yoda
