One day, when I felt like I was caught between the hammer and the anvil, I came across a single word that carried a meaning beyond volumes of books — Stoicism. At that moment, I found a way to part the dark clouds that had settled in my subconscious, lifting the shadow that had cast itself over me. In my mind, which had been like a battlefield, I discovered a place — clear, untouched for a long time, where none of my dreams had ever set foot before. Slowly, I began to change and heal.
Through Stoic philosophy, I embraced an approach focused on virtue, willpower, and understanding. I realized that while external events are beyond our control, our reactions and perspectives are within our influence. This insight gave me an incredible perspective on overcoming life’s various challenges.
One of the key aspects of Stoicism is distinguishing between what is within our control — our thoughts, actions, and choices — and what is beyond it, such as external events and other people’s opinions. Stoicism teaches the wisdom of directing our efforts toward what we can change rather than wasting energy on what we cannot.
Now, imagine for a moment that you could restart your life. Picture yourself having the ability to press a reset button and begin anew. Would you do it? Starting over does not mean forgetting or ignoring the past; it means learning from lived experiences and using that accumulated wisdom to shape a brighter, more promising future.
Stoicism taught us that “the obstacle in the path becomes the path.” The impediment to action advances action. What stands in the way becomes the way. The challenges you face in life exist to uncover your potential and push your limits. If you have the courage to overcome obstacles and persevere, they cease to be barriers and instead become the very path that leads you to your goals.
No matter what story you are living, never forget this: even stories with happy endings carry a tale of sorrow. Sometimes, even in your most anxious, fearful, exhausted, and helpless moments, all you need to do is take the next step. Take that next step — no one can stop you. Starting over is an art.
