That hasn’t happened, in part because of conservative hardliners in the House and also because of Trump himself. POTUS signaled his interest in bipartisan bills on multiple occasions both publicly and privately, only to renege on any sort of momentum after huddling with anti-immigration hawks like Senior Advisor Stephen Miller and Chief of Staff John Kelly. The deadline for DACA was supposed to be Mar. 5, but the courts have intervened. U.S. District Judge William Alsup ruled that DACA renewals must continue, though new applications aren’t being accepted. The Trump Administration is blaming everyone else for a problem it largely created. On Monday, Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders said of Congress: “The fact that they can’t actually come together and get something done is pathetic and now they’re using the courts as an excuse.” Meanwhile, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer penned an essay for CNN, writing: “President Trump, the ball is in your court. You broke it, you fix it. We Democrats have repeatedly offered compromise proposals that both sides should be proud of, but you have stood firmly in the way of progress.” Social isn’t happy with anyone involved. Over the past 14 days, “Congress + DACA” has a 38 percent positive score, while “Trump + DACA” has a 29 percent positive score. –Alex Shultz
