Donald Trump brings shame to our entire gender. He is the living, fire-breathing, fear-evoking, hate-mongering, violence-threatening, sexist, racist, misogynistic, xenophobic, avaricious, insecure, intolerant, egomaniacal, bombastic, braggadocios, greedy sexual harassing manifestation of everything that is wrong with American men.
In the presidential debate, Donald Trump modeled all of the worst qualities associated with male behavior. The latest revelation about his degrading, harassing behavior toward women is even worse. He has become a national embarrassment for men and for our nation.
This hard-hitting column by Emma Gray here in the Huffington post calls Trump’s comments about women, “Rape Culture in a Nutshell.” My 80-year old mother observed, “In most modern nations Trump would be in prison by now, not running for President.”
During my decades of experience as an investigative journalist, I have met thousands of men from all walks of life. I have never heard someone speak with such sexist disdain, and such a sense of entitlement, as what Donald Trump said to Billy Bush in 2005 in the video that you can hear on this page. The last time that I heard this type of talk was when I was a teenager, and the lewd jerks who said things like Trump said were not my friends.
Donald Trump’s racist, sexist remarks to Miss Universe, Venezuelan Alicia Machado, whom he referred to as “Miss Piggy” or “Miss Housekeeping,” was only one of four shocking takeaways from the first presidential debate. If there are any men reading this who find it challenging to understand how such comments impact women, please listen to Ms. Machado herself:
Another debate surprise, as this column providing a debate transcript demonstrates, was how utterly unprepared and incoherent Donald Trump was when talking about anything of substance.
Even more shocking was the revelation that Donald Trump is proud that he pays virtually no taxes on hundreds of millions of dollars of income each year, while the rest of us support the government he tears down, because, as he said interrupting Clinton, “That makes me smart.”
And here is the most startling political takeaway from all of this: More than 40% of our fellow Americans, and probably a majority of white men like myself, will still actually vote for Trump in six weeks, despite everything that has surfaced during the past few weeks about the type of man he is.
Despite the clear unveiling of Donald Trump’s history of sexual harassment and disrespect of women. Despite his ignorance, arrogance, dishonesty, tax fraud, and rudeness.
A Donald Trump victory would turn our government into a disaster of unprecedented proportions. During the primaries, I wrote extensively here on my Huffington Post blog about my strong preference for Bernie Sanders, as well as my concerns about Hillary Clinton and some of her positions.
But there is no comparison between Clinton and Trump. At this stage, the purported advantage of voting Green or Libertarian because of a “moral equivalency” between Hillary and Donald, sounds foolish and dangerous.
We American men are better than Donald Trump! And We, the People of the United States, deserve better than Donald Trump.
This November 8, let’s vote to end the public embarrassment that is Donald Trump’s ascent, and join our mothers, sisters, daughters and friends in electing Hillary Clinton to be the first woman President of our great nation.

In most modern nations?? WTH do you think the USA is, modern nation has nothing to do with it. The reason Mr. Trump is not in jail is because he has apparently not been charged with a crime. If in fact he has touched women inappropriately then it only becomes a crime when he is charged doesn’t it, women have to do that themselves. That is no different than a man being assaulted by another man, if it’s not reported then it is invisible. Just being bombastic, a braggart and uncouth is not a crime. Many wealthy people pay little… Read more »
By far the biggest impact the USA has on the world is it’s engagement and participation in war. So although Trump may have treated women badly it’s not quite as bad as being directly or indirectly responsible for the killing and injury of a few 100,000 or even million people. While both are pro War Hillary has some responsibility in acts of war, Libya etc I also see Hillary as a much higher risk when it comes to potential conflict with Russia and China !! And doesn’t this article form part of the squaking playground tribal politics ? Shouyldn’t a… Read more »
Goodmenproject hates men. There is nothing wrong with American Men. Trump is an individual and it is hateful to use him to bash American men.
The GoodMenProject does not hate men, I remember well when it started in 2009 and immediately feminists including infamous Hugo Schwyzer were quickly demanding to reject any article and to delete any comment written by MRA/MGTOW and to ban everybody who identifies openly as a Men’s Rights Advocate. However the GoodMenProject, still with Tom Matlack, did never give in to such unreasonable feminist demands, Hugo left, but I am still here. Comments are also still there, and not edited or deleted. https://goodmenproject.com/men-and-feminism/mens-goodness-hinges-on-hearing-womens-voices-a-response-to-tom-matlack/ The GoodMenProject might be considered as a ‘neutral ground’ I would say. It is not against men, its… Read more »
Gotta love Hugo. What a character. I often felt sort of insane after arguing with him. I have to agree. They do not hate men, but, perhaps it is the lack of balance that Pete is speaking of. I’ve seen enough “men’s fault” essays to make my eyes bleed, not unlike this one tossing a blanket over the entirety of men for the actions of one, and hardly a one holding women or feminism accountable (when they should be). beyond some pitiful plea for women to “help us” as if we are a bunch of inept fools. You know, like… Read more »
‘Donald Trump brings shame to our entire gender.’
Nonsense. It so happened, I am a man, I am white, almost same age, I am originally from Central Europe same as the parents of Trump, but why shall I feel ashamed of that? I see no reason why I should.
I do not feel myself to be responsible or guilty in any form for what Trump is doing or not doing. He is not my identical twin brother.
For as long as I live I will never understand why people get embarrassed because someone who shares an arbitrary trait with them (in this case, gender) said or did something stupid. That being said, if anyone wants to do that, more power to them- but I will not be joining you.
“Donald Trump brings shame to our entire gender.”
While Mr. Trump is certainly no male role model for men, I think the men who really bring shame to to the American male are men such as yourself.
If you don’t believe me, just sample men from around the world and ask them just what they think of white American men such as yourself. They think very little of you. Weak, soft, spineless, emasculated, dickless,….just some of the adjectives they use Mr. Greenberg.
Don’t believe me. Go find out for yourself.
Complelelty surprised your comment passed moderation. Maybe other men don’t like American men like Jonathan. Then again, the rest of the world isn’t known for its support of women in general. But You would be wrong to assume that any women, American or not, don’t respect men like Jonathan who have the courage to call a spade a spade and to speak out on social injustice. It is men like Donald Trump that bring shame. But not to all men. Just to the men who support him by either giving Trump his full support or the men who downplay the… Read more »
It is men like Donald Trump that bring shame. But not to all men. Just to the men who support him by either giving Trump his full support or the men who downplay the seriousness of Trump’s actions and words or the men who never call Trump out and ask him to be accountable. But that’s not what Jonathan said. He said Trump brings shame to our gender not bring shame to men that support him. Jonathan says, “During my decades of experience as an investigative journalist, I have met thousands of men from all walks of life. I have… Read more »
Danny, I know that when I heard certain women make highly negative comments about men, I have certainly inwardly cringed and thought “she certainly is not representing women well, what an embarrassment.” The reality is that we want the people who share our gender, our religion or race to represent our group the best way possible. And when they don’t, we sometimes do feel responsibility for that. And I don’t think that is a a bad thing. Because that is exactly what holds us accountable for calling out people we identify with the most and holding them accountable. Verse just… Read more »
Danny, I know that when I heard certain women make highly negative comments about men, I have certainly inwardly cringed and thought “she certainly is not representing women well, what an embarrassment.” And on a personal level I agree with you. But this is post is beyond personal level. Its an attempt to convince people at large that Trump represents men as a whole. And I don’t think that is a a bad thing. Because that is exactly what holds us accountable for calling out people we identify with the most and holding them accountable. Verse just washing our hands… Read more »
“In all honesty, do you believe a woman could have gotten away with saying half the things trump says about women, if she were saying similar things about men?” Are you joking? Leslie Mann and Dakota Johnson sexually harrass an interviewer on camera, no huge outrage. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fX6rII4HP6Q Kelly Brook jokes on national television about physically assaulting her ex boyfriends, no backlash whatsoever. Melissa McCarthy sexually assaults Justin Bieber on national television. No real outrage beyond a few “well, that ain’t right.” articles. This article: http://thoughtcatalog.com/lisa-woods/2015/08/15-funny-honest-comments-by-celebrity-women-about-big-penises/ I mean really Erin? I can’t actually think of a single female celebrity who was… Read more »
‘….. is simply holding men accountable and asking them to support women, not dismiss or ignore or justify Trump.
In all honesty, do you believe a woman could have gotten away with saying half the things trump says about women, if she were saying similar things about men?’
—–
I can only say, yes, easily, when reading about what female politicians in UK, Sweden and other strongly pro-feminist countries said about men in the past – some derogatory comments against men were even supported by male feminists expecting some kind of reward from women in return.
@ Erin
“n all honesty, do you believe a woman could have gotten away with saying half the things trump says about women”
Well, Billy Bush got suspended over it. When Sharon Osbourne laughed about a man having his penis cut off all she had to do was make a faux apology. You know her laughing while she was saying it and it wasn’t just Sharon Osbourne. Oh, wait the guy deserved it because he wanted to divorce his wife.

So you tell me if you really think she couldn’t have gotten away with saying much worse?
Just thought of something else along this line. Okay if the idea is that genders should hold members of their own accountable for the bad things that some of them do, then where are the women that spoke against Amy Schumer when she, at a feminist event, talked about how she had sex with a drunk guy? I specifically remember women and feminists rallying around her to say that when that drunk guy tried to have sex with her it wasn’t rape. But on the other hand there plenty of “drunk woman had sex with sober guy” cases and the… Read more »

You don’t get our much do ya?
‘Trump is horrible candidate I’ll agree’ The question is what is the alternative? There are many voters who do not agree with Hillary Clinton out of many reasons. Not to vote will not be helpful and will change nothing – if you do not want Hillary Clinton as president of the USA, the only what you can do about is to vote for Trump. It’s not only about USA either, in many Western orientated countries nowadays voters are dissatisfied with the performance of their politicians and are willing to give an outsider a chance. Look to Philippines and its new… Read more »
Someone simply not being a politician is not a good enough reason to vote for them. Trump seems entrenched in a level of entitlement that is actually extremely similar to what we do see in politicians sometimes though. He believes he is untouchable. This exudes from his every pore. He once flat out said he could shoot someone, and people would still support him. And he is right, he could. He can joke about abusing women and people still want him for president. He can make fun of a respected journalist with a disability and people still think Trump is… Read more »
See that’s the dilemma. Trump or Clinton being the choices and seeing that neither is really pleasing.
“Maybe other men don’t like American men like Jonathan.” Yes, that is true Erin. Most men (according to Pew Research and other sources ) do not identify as feminist. Also, what is really offensive and outlandish is Mr. Greenberg is taking a billionaire white male and saying that most men are somehow similar to him in thinking and views. That’s nuts! Most men, even white men, today live in a world of fear and silence. Only those men who have power and privilege can get away with this kind of stuff on a regular basis. But, since women are attracted… Read more »
