Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and French President Emmanuel Macron have both clashed with Trump, with Trudeau calling aluminum and steel tariffs imposed by Trump “insulting” and incongruent with the U.S.’s long alliance with Canada. Trudeau said that Canadians would “not be pushed around” after Trump left the G7 summit early to meet with North Korean Supreme Leader Kim Jong-Un. Macron also stood up to Trump, calling for more trade independence for the European Union and going viral after squeezing Trump’s hand in a vice-like handshake. Canada and France might have their opinions about Trump, but so does social media. Trump outranks both Trudeau and Macron in positive opinions online, with the American President seeing 32 percent positives vs. Macron’s 30 percent and Trudeau’s 27 percent. The francophone world might be standing up to Trump, but English-speaking social media is squarely in his corner. –Hugo Guzman
