“The ability of writers to imagine what is not the self, to familiarize the strange and mystify the familiar, is the test of their power.”
— Toni Morrison
Writers are often asked by readers about where they get their ideas and what is the source of those ideas? I would tell those readers to read the literary works of the writers they enjoy reading. I believe that a writer reveals his or her way of thinking through the writings that they produce.
A writer’s world is revealed through his or her works. The emotions and life experiences of a writer are encapsulated in every word, sentence and literary piece created. Why is it that some individuals who want to become writers hesitate from doing so? It is because that they do not want to reveal themselves in their writings. I was such an individual who hesitated about taking up the writing craft. However, the zeal and the desire to take up writing was too great.
My Dad is a writer, so taking up writing is in my genes. The day I took up the journey of walking on the writer’s way, was when I decided to be brave and plunge into my subconscious to tap into my creativity and imagination in my creative literary works.
I prefer using my imagination to write poems, stories and articles. You will also find that I usually do not write lists or lengthy factual articles. I enjoy creative writing as it is my opportunity to be in touch with my subconscious and super conscious mind, as I write my imaginative materials. Creativity and the power of the human imagination keeps every human being in touch with the universal cosmic force.
Reading the works of any writer is a revelatory experience, and it is a very special moment. The writer has invited his or her readers to live his or her life experiences, imagination and creativity. Get to know any author by reading the literary experiences placed on offer in the forms of books, poems, stories and articles.
“The writer is an explorer. Every step is an advance into a new land.”
