Anytime you add more financial stress to ordinary life, shit is bound to get a little hairy. The holidays are a shining example of how trying to bring families together can end up with big ass drama filled problems.
However, no matter how broke or stressed someone may be, it never gives them an excuse to treat you poorly. We all get snappish when we’re stressed out, but that’s not a valid reason to raise your voice or your hands with your partner.
The abusive relationship boards are lit up like Christmas trees right now, and it’s a repeat of the last 5 years I’ve been active there. People being hit, saying they’re just trying to get through the holiday before they seek help, before they break up their family.
Babygirl, you’re not breaking up your family. He’s breaking your teeth and you’re swallowing them to avoid the hard truth. If he beats your ass on Christmas, he’s gonna beat your ass on Flag Day, too. And on Tuesday, the 17th, and every lunch break you take in March.
He beats you because he beats you, not because he had to buy your daddy a socket set for Christmas.
Let’s be fucking real about it.
So, if you can get away and need someone to listen and possibly help you with an exit plan, I’m here. I will listen. I’ll help you plan. I’ll pretend to be Publix Deli if he walks in while you’re on the phone.
“Boars Head or Publix brand roast beef?”
Yep. That’s me, sis. Taking fake sandwich orders from ladies in their bathrooms trying to look unbeaten. Let’s get these holidays popping.
Happy Holidays
