French writer Antoine de Saint-Exupéry once said, “A goal without a plan is just a wish.” But what if we’re done wishing? What if we’re craving change, real, tangible, gut-punching change?
Then, of course, we need a plan.
So here’s mine for July:
1. No Sugar for 30 Days
Okay, full honesty. The real goal is 90 days. But big goals become achievable when we break them into small wins. Thirty days? I can do that.
I’m tired of feeling like I’m not taking care of myself. I’ve spent half my life trusting “vibes” over discipline. But now that I’ve crossed 30, that luxury feels less charming. So it’s official: I’m in. No sugar. Day 1, let’s go.
And just to be clear: I said no added or artificial sugar. I still love fruit.
2. Read At Least Three Books
This time, I mean it. Three books in a month? Totally doable. And I need to start today, not next week, not when I “feel like it.” My brain needs nourishment that isn’t scrolling or background noise. I miss the way books make time disappear.
3. Drink at least 3 Litres of Water Daily
You know what’s worse than dehydration? Knowing you’re dehydrated and doing nothing about it.
I’ve had enough of that sluggish, foggy-headed, irritated-skin feeling. It’s such a small act of self-respect to hydrate. And I’ve been skipping it for far too long.
4. No Social Media Between 9 PM and 9 AM
This one’s hard. I’ve tried it before, half-heartedly. Switched off notifications but still ended up doom-scrolling at 2 a.m. Not anymore.
My mind deserves rest. Real rest. So I’m drawing a digital boundary—9 PM to 9 AM — no phone, no exceptions. Let the world wait.
5. 10 Minutes of Deep Breathing Every Day
I have been considering getting into yoga. Not the Pinterest-aesthetic kind, but the real, grounding, body-breath-awareness kind. But I’ve learned my lesson: don’t jump too far ahead.
So I’m starting here. Just 10 minutes a day of deep breathing. Inhale. Exhale. That’s it. No rush. No performance. Just a daily check-in with my breath, my body, and myself.
If that eventually grows into a complete yoga practice, great. If not, this alone is already a win.
The one thing the woman writing this has lacked is discipline. That’s the missing piece. Not talent, not effort, not even desire, but consistency.
That changes now. I’ve done enough thinking, overthinking, doing, undoing, and repeating.
July is the month of follow-through—there are no more excuses.
Let’s begin.
