September and October bring out the biggest highs. This adds to the overall energy and essence that unfolds in the wonderful season of fall.
Beginning of the Season
I don’t even watch sports. I’ll tune in a bit when there’s a game on somewhere at a restaurant or a similar setting where it’s being played. I just don’t go out of my way to watch sports anymore.
However, I find it refreshing to see how people who do like sports act. Something about the excitement of sports (primarily football)gets people giddy.
It’s the beginning of the season for football, basketball, and hockey. No matter how bad your favorite team might have been last year, it’s a fresh season now and people are excited. Every team is starting fresh, and it makes everyone enthusiastic.
The same goes for the school’s fall semester. It’s a brand-new start for people going to school. New classes and a new vibe. Everything feels fresh.
Right around this time of year, there are always many outside events and concerts. Artists are touring. Community events are blossoming. Farmer’s markets are popping. The anticipation for Halloween is building up.
Go check out the poster board of any coffee shop around this time of year. You’ll find plenty of events.
This is a fantastic energy to find yourself immersed in. I find myself looking forward to that part every year. Even though I don’t care for sports much and I’m no longer a student.
Nature Is at Peak Form
Leaves are starting to fall on the ground. Very slow at first.
Even better, the leaves are starting to change color. It’s beautiful. It calls for us all to spend more time outside and appreciate the essence of being present in nature.
Go for a hike. Go to the park. Whatever it is, just do something outside. I guarantee it will brighten your mood at least a little bit.
Look at the trees and try to be one with what surrounds us. Just sitting outside in nature and silence can provide a type of meditation. It’s a great calming essence and it works the best in the fall time.
The Crisp Air Makes You Feel a Way
The small bite of that crisp air you feel in the fall gives you a slight chill. It serves as a simple reminder that winter is coming, and change is inevitable.
The feeling helps you accept the change in the weather. And this acceptance can overlap in other areas of your life where you may resist change. It may even be subconscious; however, the autumn air can help bring it to your awareness.
The combination of nature at peak form and the crisp fall air constructs this nostalgic energy. You can smell it and almost taste it. Undoubtedly though you feel it.
Memories from the past bubble into your consciousness reminding you of the best times of your life. But it’s not always just the best times of your life. A lot of times it’s nostalgic feelings of big pivotal moments in your life.
Change. It’s in sync with the weather changing. Funny how that works.
This happens to me every year, right around the same time in the fall. It’s difficult to put in words. My best depiction of this feeling would be to call it “nostalgic highs”.
These nostalgic highs cause me to reminisce. They allow me to take a moment to slow things down and appreciate the things I have in my life.
…
This is what makes fall the best time of the year. I love the nostalgic highs, the beautiful scenery that nature curates, and the fresh energy of new beginnings.
Nonetheless, beware it’s best to try not getting too lost in them. Enjoy them while they’re present. However, don’t overly cling on to them too much. As they will pass when the time is right.
As will the fall season.
