People are tribal and always have been.
We will always root for “our side” if the framing of the situation or event is us or them. But we already know that not only are women and men not natural enemies, but full entire families, neighborhoods, companies, and every other organization out there.
Males and females, and a full gender spectrum represents all of humanity. Our roles are not ourselves, but one would think it’s all we care about.
The primary reason why you still hear of gender wars, or war between the sexes is that this age-old tired trope comes up again and again.
Conflict sells.
If it bleeds, it leads, the news media used to say.
When we stop to think about what is unfair, we can easily find examples of what inclusion includes and what exclusion pushes away in our own lives.
There is a “war” against inclusion itself precisely be people feel they belong to an oppressed minority even if they historically do not.
Now our every click is monitored and algorithms run us as much as we run them. To opt out from the unproductive “war between the sexes” cliche, just keep awareness of when you are being tapped to list grievances, or levy complaints about who has what privilege and who does not.
It’s really that simple.
