Ok, I have a confession. I didn’t do it in high heels, in fact, I don’t even own a pair. Heels are a joke and for the devils’ amusement. Made to inflict pain for legs that look temporarily pretty.
This post is my 31st post for the Good Men Project, and I want to let you know what I’ve thought of being a women contributor.
Writing about family and not being attacked by mommy shamers has felt amazing. Having men comment on my opinion of parenting was delightful! It was positive, thoughtful and made me think that men were more ready to raise strong women than most women are.
Now, for 31 posts I stuck to the safe zone. Why? I read some of the terrible and unconstructive comments that came out of nowhere when a male writer suggested it was time for female leaders. This platform was intended to start a conversation, not an opportunity for blatant sexism, hate, or fear based responses. Because of this other writers and readers may have great ideas that we will never have the chance to read.
I’ve learned a lot through this challenge, and these are the conversations everyone should be having!
To keep that conversation going let us remember that everyone is here to comment or learn. The intent is to aim for the best of who we can be. Life is short so make sure you are leaving the best you behind for the next generation to follow.
Thank you to the readers of a new generation, the writers who are unafraid, and to the people, whos comments stayed true to the point of this group. Lastly, thank you to The Good Men Project for creating this special place for all of us to exist.
