Earlier this month, Attorney General Jeff Sessions enunciated the Administration’s zero tolerance policy, saying, “If you are smuggling a child then we will prosecute you, and that child will be separated from you as required by law.” President Trump has somehow managed to blame Democrats for the situation, tweeting: “Put pressure on the Democrats to end the horrible law that separates children from there [sic] parents once they cross the Border into the U.S. Catch and Release, Lottery and Chain must also go with it and we MUST continue building the WALL! DEMOCRATS ARE PROTECTING MS-13 THUGS.” The New York Times reported last month that more than 700 children have been separated from their families while crossing the southern border since October, and recent reports have indicated that 1,475 immigrant children are unaccounted for after being placed in federal custody. Even Sen.
