Everyone wants to get away for a while. Who does not want another vacation if it was possible? As more companies offer unlimited vacation to their employees, many employees are granted the opportunity to travel more.
However, many people state that not having enough money is the challenge for preventing them from traveling more. Although, what if you could travel more on your current income?
Do you want an extra vacation? Perhaps, you love traveling as much as myself. You can travel more on your current income. It just requires a little bit of research and some creative financing.
Here are three steps that you can incorporate into your travel strategy to receive the best bargains.
First, book early!
Perhaps, you have heard of the early adage: “Good things come to those who wait.” If you book early, you will be waiting a long time for your flight or bus journey.
Although, booking months in advance can yield some of the best deals. You can save 20-40% off the price for an airline ticket or even more for a bus ticket.
Some good examples are Southwest Airlines and Busbud. Today, I did a random booking search and discovered that Southwest is offering several May flights from New York City to Atlanta for $64. Busbud is currently offering tickets for the same route in the same month, starting at $47.
Second, divide your trip!
Dividing your trip may not be sensible for everyone, but you can cut costs by incorporating it into your travel savings strategy.
Recently, I took a bus trip from Philadelphia to Durham, North Carolina. Although, I did not book my tickets exactly that way.
Instead, I booked a ticket from Philadelphia to Washington. Then, I booked another ticket from Washington to Durham. By dividing my trip, I saved $40 and reached my destination only an hour later.
Third, use points, sales, and promo codes to your advantage!
Are you are a member of a frequent flier program? If so, you may be able to use some of your points to pay a portion of the ticket cost.
Also, consider subscribing to the email list of your travel company as you will be notified first regarding their upcoming sales.
If you are lucky, you may be able to use promotional codes in addition to an existing sale. Sometimes, travel companies do not set expiration dates on their promo codes, which gives you an opportunity to save more money.
Travel companies may not do a good job advertising their promotions, but you can still find them. If you did a Google keyword search like “[Travel Company Name] promo code”, you may be fortunate to find a promo code to subsidize your total trip cost.
The Final Word on Travel
Do not allow the illusion of high cost to prevent you from booking a ticket to your desired travel destination.
Each year, travel is becoming more affordable for everybody. If you employ these 3 steps during your travel booking search, you will win bargain travel deals almost every time.
