I am going to say this first since it may be like lying to you if I don’t.
I have never suffered from writers block in my time writing, mostly because I don’t believe that it exists, I feel that saying you have it is like giving yourself an excuse to stop writing and give in to your laziness.
Most people feel that they have to be in their most creative state to be able to write any sort of content when in reality it’s not true.
If you feel that you have writers block just because you can’t get any good idea then you aren’t asking the right questions to yourself.
I am going to talk more to the side of creating content for brands since I don’t create fiction articles (I am planning to do it though)
This is like the go to if you haven’t got a clue on what to write about and need some inspiration.
There are millions of books that can let those creative juices loose and if oyu are not reading every single day then you are missing out!
At least read some articles here on medium so you can see what other writers are up to and how they write their articles. Study them and understand why they are successful.
I have had a lot of great ideas come to me when I was reading a book or when I was reading an article online, so why not keep doing it? You learn something new from other people and get “inspired” with their writing! A win/win situation if you ask me!
Write something every single day
For me this is an important one when it comes to getting a good flow of ideas going. If you simply sit in front of your laptop and start writing and letting your ideas flow and see where thy lead, sooner or later you will create a piece of content worth sharing!
I like to get ten pages a day, which amounts to 2,000 words. That’s 180,000 words over a three month span.
-Stephen King
Even if you feel that you aren’t writing stuff that you would like to share, you still will be writing something and working to create that article that you are looking for.
Stop saying that you have writers block
Do you really believe that your brain one day all of a sudden stops being creative? I don’t, I believe that you aren’t feeding it enough things for it to be creative.
Your brain doesn’t have a switch that turns your creativity on and off.
Those excuses that you are saying to other people on the other hand can make you believe that you really are losing your creativity.
So my advice to this is to cut the crap and start working on what you know that you should be doing!
People that pay for your services don’t care if you are having “writers block” or an existential crisis, they just want the damn article that you said that you were going to make.
Yes, it sounds harsh, but that’s how it is!
Nobody ever said that the market was going to be fair.
This quote from Gary Vaynerchuk sums it up
Nobody gives a f*ck about your feelings, bro
So next time that you think that you have writers block think again, you might be bullshitting yourself.
