The measure of perfection in your life lies not in who you are
but rather, in the quality of your deeds
and the attitude you carry
in your heart and mind.

How amazing would the world be if each of us did just one good dead every day? It doesn’t have to cost anything or be earth shattering but if we each did one small thing for someone else, just imagine how much positive energy there would be in the world.
All actions have some kind of reaction: They also carry emotions and when something is done constantly, it becomes part of our DNA. A simple smile is positive and powerful. It carries a great deal of warmth and enrichment. It costs us nothing but says a great deal about you as a person and the warmth and depth of the feelings and emotions you hold.
A positive and empowering word or action becomes a habit when it stays with us and we repeat it over and over again with passion and enthusiasm. It enriches our hearts and souls and very often, provides the impetus needed to continue when the going gets a little tough. It also adds immeasurable value to the lives of those with whom we come into contact.
Have you ever met someone who just seems to radiate happiness and positive energy? This is a person who literally shines from within and lights up a room without saying anything. The person need not be rich or famous or large of statue. It’s the same person within whom love, contentment and happiness are ingrained. Perhaps you’re that person whom everyone likes and wants to be with.
This person brightens everyone around them with charisma and personality. That comes from having a positive attitude and a quiet confidence. These are just some of the crucial components of the makeup of a happy person and they become more powerful when practiced and shared every day.
Doing good deeds becomes a habit. As we reach out and empower others these deeds act like magnets for so much more positive energy to enter our lives.
Try any one of the following nine acts for amazing results:-
- Give up your seat on the bus or train
- Smile at a stranger
- Tell a family member you love them
- Offer a helping hand to a disadvantaged person
- Say ‘hi’ to a passerby
- Phone a friend and have a chat
- Spend time laughing with a child
- Help an elderly neighbor
- Pat an animal
The above points (and so many more) are all actions which have the capacity to enrich and empower life. Doing something special for someone else is uplifting. It opens us to so much positive energy, our hearts literally sing with joyful emotions. It’s one of the greatest gifts we give ourselves and share with others.
The disadvantaged are people who are often lonely and vulnerable. That includes our homeless. They struggle every day to survive. Our veterans too, can find themselves lonely and defenseless. They return from active duty with many physical and psychological problems to deal with. Their loneliness sees them fall through the cracks, often into oblivion.
The homeless live from hand to mouth, often going without meals because they don’t have the money or means to provide for themselves. They live out in the open in all kinds of weather, with only sheets of cardboard and old rags to keep them dry and warm.
Next time you see a homeless person, don’t stand in judgment. No matter who we are, we do not have that right. Without knowing what has occurred in that person’s life, it can be impossible to rationalize their situation. We should refrain from standing on a pedestal.
Offering a kind word or reaching out a helping hand to those in need opens us to so much goodness in our lives. In itself it might not make us financially well off but when we open ourselves to positive words and actions, we can definitely make ourselves spiritually and emotionally wealthy.
Others will no doubt watch us performing good deeds with a really positive attitude and that’s the key. Never perform an act of kindness simply because others are watching but because it feels good to assist and support those in need. The mere acts of compassion and generosity enrich the soul.
People around you—family members, neighbors and staff—can soon adopt your uplifting approach as they embrace your drive and enthusiasm. It draws others in as they adopt a very positive and active approach to their lives. That circle of gratitude is suddenly so much larger and all-encompassing.
Doing positive deeds for others really does make you feel good inside. When you do it constantly, those feelings become part of you. It’s in this amazing place you realize that you’re rapidly becoming an extraordinary force for good in the greater global community.
Imagine the possibilities …
