Come alive in the bliss of your body, mind, and emotions.
I sensed the sadness. Just like a small pool of water, or a patch of quicksand, that wanted me to sink down into it. I said no. I see you. But no. Not today my friend.
Instead, I chose to sit upright, and not allow it to consume me, siphon my time and energy like a magnet into the vortex. Straighten my body, open my eyes, fix my vision, welcome the opportunity to rise above heavy emotions, triggers and memories – and choose to smile, even just a little, to breathe into it, to be kind to myself, to see me, be me, be ok, in my own company, in my own presence.
Choose happiness in this moment, at 8.21 am on Tuesday morning.
Be with people I like and love. How do I want to be? Be me. Breathe. Notice. Accept. Embody the energies of love from within – forgiveness, grace, kindness, hope, light, beingness.
Feel the heat in my coffee cup as I hold it in my hand – the cool air and breeze against my skin as I sit in the morning light with the glass door in front of me open – the sound of birds in the trees, and passing traffic in the distance – the vibrancy of life all around me, within me and before me. The ground beneath my feet. The air in my lungs.
Let those who choose to come, come. Let those who choose to go, go. Be free. Allow life to flow, doors to open, healing to soothe. Be open, curious, and aware of the life force within me.
Create. Write. Play. Walk. Laugh. Cry. Love. Swim. Think. Breathe. Shape. Enjoy. Bring all of who you are to the table. All the parts of you – the good, the bad and the ugly. It is all you. Love it all.
Leave nothing to waste, nothing to the imagination. Do not hide. And definitely do not slip into shame. You can be who you choose to be. There is nothing holding you back. A personality can be shaped. But your character is the essence of you – and you my friend, are a good soul.
The past is the past. The future has not happened. There is only here, now, this moment, and then the next, and then the next. Life is made up of a series of moments. It’s up to you what you do with them.
One day I will look back on this time, just like I can look back on previous times. But perhaps the thing is, to not look back at all. Learn from the past, your mistakes, your choices, your experiences, but don’t let them shape and mold you into a consequence – into someone you are not – or someone others believe you to be. Who do you believe you to be?
You are so much more than the sum total of your past, good and bad. You are not your history. You are everything that lives and breathes and exists, right here, and right now. Fully connected to every living thing that exists in this world with you.
Release yourself from the prison of your own thoughts – gently lift the lid on your own human potential. Pick up the pen, with fresh ink, and write. The page of today is blank. Create your story from your deepest desires, your deepest truth, your inner world. F@#k fear. Do not play small.
What do you want to do? Do it. Who do you want to be? Be it. What will your life entail, and what will you sit in your hammock smiling about when you are old?
As it now stands, you are here. Who really knows if we circle back to this world in some other form or in some other life? Who really knows if we have been here before and are fulfilling some karmic agenda or duty? Who really knows if we spend eternity in heaven or in separation? Who really knows if once we breathe our last breath, that’s it?
So, feel into it. This life. This place. This day. This night. This sunset. This sunrise. This moon. This heat. This cool. This road trip. This song. This taste. This experience, whatever it is. This moment, and then the next, and then the next.
And give thanks for every chance you’ve had to love. Open your heart. Be still. Leave your thoughts alone. And come alive in the bliss of your body, mind, and emotions.
