“Vacation? I’ve created my dream life and don’t need a vacation!” (Written from a home office, faking success, to create some sort of personal scarcity in your life)
Listen, I work hard.
I love work.
I love all kinds of work.
I love pushing the limits of possibility and becoming more powerful today than yesterday.
But all the “hustle/grind/24-7” bullsh*t is getting old.
You’ll end up working yourself out of a life, a family, and life will end up happening around you…
So y’all outwork me today in the biz, because I’m working on the family.
And this family is spending the afternoon on the couch, eating chili, and watching some football… maybe a movie… who knows.
Don’t get so busy creating a “dream” life that you miss out on the one that actually exists.
You get to define “success.”
And success means whatever you want it to mean.
If it’s working, work.
If it’s taking a break because you work hard, do that too.
And to all of my contemporaries:
You can be polarizing.
You can push people past their comfort.
You can be an example of what’s possible.
And you can choose to see the potential in people.
You can choose to see the power in their pain.
You can choose to offer a hand out of their current season.
Or you can be a bully.
You can demean.
You can be an a**hole.
You can live in a cognitive dissonant reality that you have everything together and you don’t work with the “weak.”
But I’m here to remind you:
Building your brand and business on the insecurities of others doesn’t make you a great or inspiring coach.
It makes you a manipulative, narcissistic a**hole. I know, because I’ve danced with one in the mirror.
Inspire. Equip. Lead.
Cheers.
Side note: if your business requires you to show up 24/7, you don’t have a business… you have a life-draining job and at best, a lucrative hobby.
My businesses generate income while I’m 0% productive, because of SYSTEMS and AUTOMATION. Same with my clients. We work hard, but we work SMARTER than HARDER.
So if you’re telling me your business requires you to show up 24/7, you’re not impressing me with your hustle… you’re communicating to me that you have no idea how to properly scale your endeavor.
Something to chew on.
