Since men are less likely to visit the doctor for regular checkups, consume more alcohol or tobacco, and make risky choices, they are more prone to health problems. Here are some things that put men’s health at risk as they age.
1. Colorectal Cancer
Colorectal cancer, also known as colon or rectal cancer, occurs in the large intestine and digestive system and is more common in men than women. Although only a doctor can diagnose and treat this problem, there are ways to reduce its impact. One of the methods an individual can apply is hydrotherapy. Prostate cancer is the second leading cause of cancer deaths in men. It usually affects older men, and symptoms gradually show as they age. Some advanced signs include trouble urinating, blood in urine or semen, and a burning or painful sensation during urination or ejaculation.
Although there is no way you can stop prostate cancer from affecting you, there are methods you can apply to attempt to prevent it. It includes making healthier life choices such as better food choices, more exercise, and discussions with your doctor about your risk level.
4. Diabetes
Diabetes is a condition in which your body can’t produce insulin or does not use the food for use as energy properly, increasing blood sugar levels. It affects men and women differently. There are two types of diabetes, and type two is more common in men.
Type two diabetes is usually associated less with genetics and more with weight gain, inactive lifestyle, and poor diet. So, luckily, a man can reduce the risk of type two diabetes if he follows a healthier lifestyle at an early age. By eating less sugar, processed foods, and burning more calories, the risk level will decrease.
Multiple health risks can occur in every individual at any age. But, some things affect men more than women. So, don’t put off seeing the doctor for too long because even if you feel like you’re okay, your body might be telling you otherwise. Luckily, there are ways to tackle most issues if you prioritize prevention and treatment before letting things go too far.
