Donald Trump Jnr just compared Syrian refugees to poison Skittles. Should probably give the tweeting a rest for a bit #USElections2016

1000s of Syrian children like Omran have been killed in the war. They aren't Skittles. They're children. #Skittles pic.twitter.com/zVUTKy1dq4

Each green dot represents 3 refugees admitted to the U.S. since 9/11. None of them will kill you. And none of them are Skittles. pic.twitter.com/FhgRJCNdTt

I think we should stop eating any #Skittles. Just until we find out what's going on.

Irony: @realDonaldTrump campaign calls @DonaldJTrumpJr a "tremendous asset" while millions others call him a "tremendous a**hole." #Skittles pic.twitter.com/CjrGQ8sbnN

When the Trumps tweet some meme out, the first place to go is the white supremacist site Stormfront and see if it was there first. #skittles

Funny how the #Skittles analogy is never applied to, oh, people who shoot up movie theaters or, ppl who practice racist hiring tactics.

Was if just last week Trump Jr was making holocaust jokes? Time sure does fly when you're dry heaving over the insensitivity. #Skittles

But comparing men to poisoned m&ms is ok?
… or did y’all forget about that? Because I didn’t…
#hypocrites
(1) The probability of a woman being sexually assaulted by a man is MUCH higher than the probability that an American will be killed or injured by a terrorist.
(2) While it’s true that some men get raped, every single Syrian refugee is the victim of military turmoil (except these hypothetical terrorists that ISIS is supposedly hiding in their midst).
So while a 1-in-6 chance being compared to chambers in a gun playing Russian roulette (the analogy I’ve seen) may seem a bit callous, it’s not the same thing as comparing people who are nearly uniformly victims to Skittles.
8ball is talking about the analogy of “If all men aren’t dangerous then here is a bowl of M&Ms. A few of them are poisoned. Not sure which ones though. Go ahead, eat a handful. That’s what women have to worry about when their in contact with men.” The question at hand is what exactly makes it okay to liken the entire male gender to a bowl of candy where some are poisonous but likening all refugees to a bowl of candy where some are poisonous is wrong? Maybe I’m reading your comment here wrong but it sounds like you… Read more »
I’m not really fond of either analogy, but at least the M&M analogy is indeed more accurate from a scale perspective. The Skittle analogy is better served with this image, containing one (possibly) poisoned Skittle:?t=1109019470
At the end of the day, though, men are not bullets or M&Ms, and Syrian refugees are not Skittles.
“At the end of the day, though, men are not bullets or M&Ms, and Syrian refugees are not Skittles.”
Good to see you’ve gotten the point then.
Which was 8ball’s point to begin with. The hypocrisy of being okay with “men are M&Ms” but then saying “refugees are Skittles” is wrong.
As far as I know GMP had no problem with one but they are up in arms about the other. That was 8ball’s point. So if we all agree that they are both bad, why did you try to justify the math of one of them?
You do realize that that men make up 50% of the population right? And does, implicitly, include half of all syrians regardless of where they come from? As well as half of all black people, all Mexican people, all.. well, I could go on.
So, really, are you sure you want to go defending that? Because I find both disgusting.
But, I’m not a hypocrite.
There are probably 30-40,000 comitted jihadists in all the countries who would gleefully kill us at the first opportunity. We know some of them. Some of them we had in custody and released them back to give it another go. There’ll be murderous despots all the time. Quite frankly they should remain there and fight for their own country. I sincerely think you’ve deliberately put your head in the sand if you don’t think resettlement will bring in more trouble than its worth. Islam is not merely a religion like you and I think of it. It is a way… Read more »
I’m familiar with Islam. Most of my students are Muslim. None of my students are jihadists.
Good. Then you understand its not a religion, but a way of life. That’s a good start. It’s not contained to a candelabra alter in the home. So. When enough of them in community, I will expect a demand for sharia. Do you think there will be two side by side systems? That’s crazy and you know it. Will you submit to sharia? *Allah help you. ALLAH help your kids. This is NOT us. This is not who we are. At all. As for your students. Not one is jihad. And you know them that well how? Did they all… Read more »

Very few men actually kill people either. You forget about cologne, but here is something more telling.

But even if you wanted to limit things to just murder, a single terrorist killed 86 people in Nice, France and injured over 300. Even the most prolific rapist would have difficulty approaching those numbers.
From a purely rational viewpoint, none of the candidates are president worthy of any country. Especially the most militant and powerful country. It seems very clear that they have been brought onto the world media stage to entertain us and take our attention away from what is really happening in the world. None of them will become president, no election will be held, and very possibly no America will exist as a structured superpower the way it once was. The only thing that can save us is to actively use the power of love for our selves and our fellow… Read more »
