Sometimes you find a song you just like. Maybe it’s the beat. Maybe it’s the lyrics. Maybe it’s simply, cool.
This is one of those songs. The song rocks along quite nicely (It’s currently #13 on the Billboard Rock chart) and the lyrics are cool. Nothing intensely deep, but not a Miley Cyrus song. Somewhere in the middle.
This song comes on and I get a little more relaxed. I smile a little and its fun. Fun is good. Fun is very good.
I recently found out that Skillet (I wonder if they got the idea for the name while cooking breakfast?) is actually a christian band. That’s cool. I’ve got no problem with them singing about God and stuff. As long as they rock it, they can sing about Jesus, redemption and the Holy Spirit. Hallelujah!!!
The other cool thing is I have this set to play as my alarm on my iPhone. The first thing I hear in the morning is, “I’m awake and I’m alive…”
Any day I wake up is bound to be at least a mediocre day. Maybe even more than mediocre.
I’m awake, I’m alive
Now I know what I believe inside
Now it’s my time
I’ll do what I want ’cause this is my life
(Here, right now)
Right here, right now
Stand my ground and never back down
I know what I believe inside
I’m awake, and I’m alive
