May I have your attention please?
On December 14, 2009 I launched my first blog, Sex and the Single Dad as a way to share my dating exploits and funny stories of raising my daughter who I lovingly refer to as Drama Queen.
On April 22, 2012 Sex and the Single Dad became Reed My Writing. The content’s the same but now it has a more family-friendly label.

By me.
Why the change? It’s been going through my head for more than a year and I could never find just the right name or idea for the new blog. Over the course of the last week this has morphed from a particularly horrible into Reed My Writing. I sent a few friends some bad suggestions and they gave me some honest feedback which I factored into the equation. Thanks to all of you.
In my pre-blogging years I did a lot of freelance writing (more than 30 magazines and newspapers across the U.S. and Europe) and now I’m beginning to do more freelance work again. I’ve never really discussed the blog with my daughter. She know’s of its existence but really doesn’t think about it or even look at it.
Now that my Drama Queen is in high school, I would hate for her to tell her friends (or her friends parents) that her dad blogs as Sex and the Single Dad. They would definitely get the wrong impression. I want something she can be proud of and I believe this is it.
The reality is that when someone first hears “Sex and the Single Dad” an image comes to mind and that image isn’t an accurate image of what the blog is. Or was.
In addition to re-naming the blog, I’m proud to announce the launch of the J.R. Reed Podcast which will be available beginning this Wednesday new episodes will be available weekly and could end up being the best five minutes of your day.
For some reason I’ve been listening to Steal My Kisses From You by Ben Harper and the Innocent Criminals. It’s catchy and hip with a bit of reggae, some funky bass and chills me out. In about two seconds flat my head is bopping and my feet are tapping, which always gets me feeling better.
I’m trying to put out a chill vibe while still moving to my own quirky, fun beat. This song is how I feel right now. If you watch the video at the end of the post it’ll probably make your day a little brighter. Don’t say I never gave you anything.
If you previously were subscribed to the old Sex and the Single Dad feed for your reader, take a moment to subscribe to the NEW FEED so you don’t miss a moment of the action. Why not tell a friend to subscribe?
Please help me spread the word about Reed My Writing and use the social media links at the top of the page to stay connected.
Now that you’re finished here, look around the site and Reed my writing.
You should do a redirect from your old blog and populate this one with the old posts so that people visiting the old URL will know to come here! Looks good.
@MoeDaniels Thanks Moe. I did move everything over but I have no clue how to do a redirect. The closest I could come was putting a link on the Sex and the Single Dad site. Hopefully it works. Fingers crossed. Come back tomorrow to see you profiled in all your glory!
