It’s been a while since I’ve celebrated Music Monday, so this thing is way overdue. Normally I write some type of heartfelt mush about what a song means to me or how it inspires me. Not today.
Sometimes you like a song simply because it’s bitchin. Volcano Girls is one of those songs. It’s upbeat. It’s fun. And the vocal combo of Nina Gordon and Louise Post is radalicious. They both can play the shit out of the guitar as well.
This song came out the year Drama Queen was born and I remember the two of us rocking out to this on the CD player in her room many times. Yes. That is a tye-dye onesey. She was born near Berkeley and I think that kind of thing is pretty cool.
My favorite line has to be:
Volcano Girls,
We really can’t be beat.
Warm us up and watch us blow.
Don’t forget to check out the good stuff over at Sex and the Single Dad
I’m going to forgive you for this, only because those two chicks are smoking hot…LOL!
I saw Veruca Salt back in the late 90s. They opened for Bush (maybe Oasis) at MSG.
This was the only song I knew of theirs. I picked up the rest of their CDs after the show. Very good live. I haven’t listened to any of their stuff in years, I think I’ll bust out ‘8 Arms to Hold you with’ this afternoon. Thanks for the throwback.
Awesome song! I was a youngun when that came out, but I loved that band! Good pick.
