As the workplace continues to evolve into a hybrid model, the arrival of AI glasses could redefine productivity as profoundly as laptops once did during the early internet era, or smartphones did a decade later. With Meta’s Ray-Ban Display and Rokid’s newly launched Rokid Glasses, two distinct visions are emerging for the future of work, as they may be worn on our faces.
Meta’s Ray-Ban Display emphasizes consumer appeal, integrating Meta AI into lifestyle-driven functions such as messaging and social media capture. Rokid, by contrast, is supporting services such as ChatGPT, Gemini, DeepSeek, Microsoft Translator, and Google Maps, enabling users to tailor their experience to a broader variety of application networks.

Imagine an international team meeting where instant transcription keeps every participant engaged regardless of accent or language, while real-time translation removes barriers to collaboration. Executives and educators can rely on teleprompter mode to deliver presentations, while journalists gain a hands-free tool to capture notes and quotes in fast-moving environments. These are practical solutions for the friction points of hybrid work.
The hardware is equally designed for function. At 49 grams, Rokid Glasses weigh nearly a third less than Meta’s 69-gram display. The dual-eye Micro LED waveguide display offers balanced, comfortable vision, but is only available in green, compared to the full-color Meta displays. At the same time, the built-in cameras on both models enable stabilized, first-person video recording without needing to pull out a phone or laptop.
Meta offers polish and control. Rokid offers adaptability and the promise of tools that grow with the user. For the hybrid workforce, that distinction may prove decisive in shaping which glasses become indispensable. While it is almost impossible to get your hands on the Meta Ray-Ban Displays at the moment, Rokid Glasses still has a week left on their Kickstarter campaign. If you are in the market for this new type of interaction, you should take advantage of that.
