Good Men Project Call for Submissions: A Day In the Life
So you think you know what a day in the life of a woman is like.
On The Good Men Project, we talk about how we interact with women. From our mothers and sisters to the dating scene, marriage and parenting to the workplace, gender roles and the differences among us are an endless source of mystery and supposition. But just like men’s lives, women’s experiences cannot be neatly encapsulated by a discussion of political and social issues.
Where would you have woken this morning, if you had been born female? How would you make plans for your life that differed from the ones you have now?
In this theme, “A Day In the Life of a Woman,” men are challenged to plant themselves firmly in a pair of women’s shoes and walk the talk. Share your impressions of the world through a woman’s eyes.
Tiresias of Greek myth, born a man, lived as a woman for seven years, and then as a man again, and claimed that women enjoy sex more. Do you think he was right? Is there any way to know? Make a Tiresian to-do list, in case you also piss off the gods of Olympus.
Whether you sometimes wish you could have been born female, have ever presented yourself to the world as a woman, ever considered what life as a woman is like, or the thought sends you into fits of terror, this thought exercise will stretch and provoke, and hopefully engender empathy for women as well as for ourselves as men.
