What’s the longest
you’ve ever gone
without sleep?
Sometimes it’s a matter of circumstance, sometimes it’s the result of a genuine disorder and sometimes it’s because there’s just too much to do before sleep. We’ve all been there and felt the power of sleep deprivation as it turns our heads into fuzzy boxes of static.
And, weirdly, at a certain point you often find yourself bragging about how long you’ve gone without rest. You may say it like a lament, “I haven’t slept for __ hours!”, but there’s an element of “Can you believe I’m still functioning as well as I am?” mixed into it. Which is why many of us keep track of the longest periods we’ve gone without slumber–its a testament to our stamina and ability to endure.
So, what’s your record? Mine is 46, which I suspect many of you have beaten.
