forget the war
i will go to church tomorrow
and meet a fine woman there
we will make fine babies three
we’ll make three babies rare
i’ll teach them of the american dream
we’ll eat three apple pie
they will play badminton and basketball
never curse, nor cheat, nor lie
to harvard college they shall go
study business and things like that
two will be republican
one a democrat
they will make fine babies too
three little children a piece
i will read them grimm’s fairy tales
tell them life will never cease

a different new style for you?
the first verse is solid and ROCKS.
i mean, fine babies three/three babies rare – well, that is stupendous! i feel that the rest of your poem doesn’t live up to that kind of creative potential.
i don’t mean to insult, hope these comments are ok.
try using one specific grimm’s fairy tale to link with the 1st stanza, and give up on telling us a moralizing story. in fact, tell us less!
Ha, wonderful, Mary.
Thank you.
I must think some more.
maybe think less?
you have poetry oozing out of your pores!
Mary — You are so kind.
no, not when it comes to poetry and people who want the truth. i am just honest. you are a poet in every sense of the word.
With humility, while sensing tears, I honestly thank you for your kind words.
i understand. being a poet, a true artist, is very hard and lonely work.
Accute. Love this one, Tim.
Thank you, Richard.
I have been perusing your blog. I enjoy your style.
Thank you so much.
simple and speaks your mind i think
I will take that as a compliment.
