We’re looking for a few good … contributors to GMPSports features like #WhyWeRun, From the Frontlines…of Sports, Sports Ink, and Sports Explained.
___
Good Men Project Sports is having the best conversation no one else is having about the intersection of sports, masculinity and the social issues of our time. And we’re having fun doing it.
.
.
We want YOU to join us by contributing to one of our many ongoing weekly features:
The Good Men Project Sports Team Wants To Know: Why do YOU run?
“Getting old is a hoot. I think that’s why I run. To run away from the old, if that makes any sense. When I was younger, I never ran, because I was young. Nothing to run from. Now, I feel such a sense of urgency. It’s really just another form of anxiety except I beat it back with labored breathing.”
– Reader, Michael Polenberg
Please send us your submission via email to myself at [email protected] or via Twitter @michaelkasdan #WhyWeRunGMP and #GMPSports. Submissions can also be made through the below comments section or on our Facebook page.

From The Frontlines . . . of Sports
We want to hear your stories of your personal experiences at live sports events!
Lauren: “Rally towels don’t do anything.” @NewYorkRedBulls lose 2-1 on late goal.

Do you do/play sports? Do you have tattoos? The Good Men Project Sports team wants to know the story behind your tattoos and what they mean to you.
“So on May 19 2013, I inked “Courage Of A Lion” across the top of my back between my shoulders, to remind myself to have the ability to stand for something or myself even if it means to stand all alone, and also to be like a lion. When I am chasing my challenges, dreams and goals, I want to have the full courage and the determination to go after it day after day until I get it or get there.”
– Shiney Sparks, Sports Ink #1

The concept for the column is to tackle each sport out there and explain the sport, but in a funny and off-beat way that connects to pop culture, often movies. For example, for Sports Explained: Bowling, we channeled The Big Lebowski and Kingpin. For Sports Explained: Golf, Happy Gilmore and Caddyshack.
There are plenty of sports left to cover, from ping-pong to fencing to kite surfing to cricket, and much more. And there are endless sports and pop culture related events to explore.
Please send us your submissions via email to either Mike Kasdan ([email protected]) or Wai Sallas ([email protected]) or via Twitter @michaelkasdan or @DadDiary using the #SportsExplained and #GMPSports hashtags. Submission ideas can also be discussed through the below comments section or on our Facebook page.

The Good Men Project is different from most media companies. We are a “participatory media company”—which means we don’t just have content you read and share and comment on but it means we have multiple ways you can actively be a part of the conversation. As you become a deeper part of the conversation (Which really is “The Conversation No One Else is Having), you will learn all of the ways we support our Writer’s Community—community FB groups, weekly conference calls, classes in writing, editing platform building and How to Create Social Change.
