A new article on boys and eating disorders shows that this issue continues to come out of the shadows.
Several weeks ago, there were articles and discussions on GMP about men and body image issues, along with a few on eating disorders and men.
These things were once considered to be the purview of women. They were women’s problems, women’s issues.
But more men are now coming out and sharing their stories of body hatred, social pressures to look a certain way, and the eating disorders they struggle with.
As more of these conversations come into the light, maybe more boys and men will seek the help they need.
It’s a conversation worth having.

I think it’s sad that we are so trained to think “boys aren’t like girls” that in the NPR video, he said “I looked up purging, and saw a lot of women, so I thought it couldn’t be me”.
I know why it’s there, society, stereotypes and so on, but it’s still sad.
Thanks for sharing.
