For those tortured souls in the grips of mental illness, the last stop is often prison. Facilities frequently ill-equipped to handle such specialized needs, deny medication and therapies and resort to physical abuse to compel compliance. Without question, these methods and the practice of isolating mentally ill people, is inhumane and in some cases, has resulted in suicide.
