March 25th is National Medal of Honor Day. Do you know the names of any of the soldiers, sailors, airmen, or others who have received the Medal of Honor?

Don’t cheat, no Google searches for this one. Since March 25th, 1863 the USA has been honoring military personnel who have gone way above and far beyond the call of duty, but how often do we recall their names? Can you name any off the top of your head? Let us know in the comments below.

Ty Carter, Sal Guinta, Clint Romesha, Hershel Williams, Sammie Davis, Doc Ballard, Kyle Carpenter, Mr Sasser, Mr Livingston. Some of the first names escape me. I have had the honor of meeting these men and they are the most humble human beings. And stop calling them winners. The CMH is not game about how many lives are saved so they can “win”. It is about service before self, the love of your country and the soldiers that are Thierry family. They are recipients, they are strong, they are humble, they have integrity, they are our national treasures THEY ARE HEROES!!!
Richard L. Etchberger, Lance Sijan, Bernard Fischer, Bud Day, Roy P Benavidez, Ed”Too Tall” Freeman, Audie Murphy, Dakota Meyers, Leo K. Thorsness, John Levitow, Audie Murphy, Richard Bong, Butch O’Hare, Gen Douglas McArthur, Sgt York (WW1), Jimmy Doolittle,
Woodrow Keeble I missed.

Smedly Butler was awarded the CMH twice (I know that because I did some training at camp Smedly while in Okinawa.) Sgt. Major Dan Daily was awarded the CHM twice. There are around 15 or 20 men that have received the honor twice (Admittedly, though I know these and more, I… Read more »
Admittedly, without the aid of the internet, I failed to directly name any, except for Audie Murphy (but of course, Audie Murphy won every medal). And I would concede that that failing there to name any others should engender, at least, a moment of pause.
