Do you feel like everyone is depending on you? Are you stressed out? Take some time to take care of yourself, man. Take a break from rushing and pushing to get everything done. Rest for a moment. When you’re well rested, you’ll perform better.
One thing I love to do when I’m taking a little break is to drink some water. Water has three huge benefits that’ll keep you working and feeling better.
It helps your joints work better. That means easier movement with less pain.
Water improves brain function. Struggling with a problem? A drink of clean water will help you think clearly.
Water helps prevent and relieve headaches. Sometimes you might get frustrated and want a cigarette. At least have some water first. That’ll keep that frustration from turning into a headache.
It’s easy to want to be the man who gets it all done. Most of the time though, we can’t do as much as we’d like to. Sometimes we’ve got to hold back a little and save some energy for rest and self-care.
Hey man: if you don’t take care of yourself, nobody else will. The best thing you can do for the people in your life is to take care of yourself, so that nobody has to see you struggle. The people who love you will understand: you’re human, and so you need rest and time to yourself.
Remember all the things you got done today. Did you get up and go to work? Help someone out? Let someone go ahead of you in line? Listen to a friend in trouble? Plan? Cook? Make a big decision? Read up on something important? Anything else? You’re doing good man! Keep it up! But at some point, let yourself say: “Enough,” and get some good rest.
