Uriah is strong, independent, courageous, and determined. These things are some of his greatest qualities as a person, but they’re also sometimes his weaknesses. Where my other children ask for help, or cry, or breakdown, Uriah pushes on, smiling, laughing, and bringing joy almost always. As a parent, sometimes he feels like the calm in the storm. However, I’ve realized that a lot of the things he goes alone, he shouldn’t have to, and that he’s not always the calm in the storm, but a silent sufferer. I want Uriah to come to us when he needs help, when he’s unsure, when he’s scared, and when he’s hurting. I love that he is independent and confident in himself, but I want him to know he doesn’t have to face it all on his own.
