If you’re like me, you’re hyper-aware. You look around and realize just how incredibly dark and messed up the world is. Everything you do research into it, reading more & more stories about people from abusive homes, and other horrid stories about undeserved injustices some people are forced to face. It breaks you, how could you live in a world like this? Filled with cruel injustices and cowards who take their problems out on innocent people. It gets worst, you realize this is taking place on a humongous scale. Everyday, much much more people than you can count subject to heinous crimes and evils. Third world poverty stricken countries, where people are just happy to get a sip of clean water. But, you can’t save everyone, you can’t help each and every individual suffering.
You’re only human, and can do so much, unless you were a supernatural being you simply lack the ability to help out billions, millions of people at once. The grim reality is that there will simply always be evil in the world, abusers, rapists, murderers, and there’s nothing you can do to stop all of them at once. This realization can be extremely hard to cope with, and be comfortable with, after all everyone deserves to be treated with dignity, respect, and temperance. Which is why the law exists, but those evildoers who break such laws will always be present.
I’ve struggled with this, I didn’t want to live in a world like this, it made me sick to my stomach waking up to reality. But, I learned that you should rather find solace and peace in the positive impact you’re actively making within your control. The stoics say, most of our troubles are external, when we let go of this, we find tranquility. Even the smallest of good deeds can create a ripple effect.
You’re not alone, there’s still good in the world worth fighting for, and there’s millions out there fighting the same battle striving to make the world a better place for all to bask in. We can find a sense of community & peace with our fellow heroes actively making change. I’ve learned to limit my exposure to such negative content, it will only do harm to my mental health. I’m aware of the injustices on our planet, why directly expose myself to more first-hand accounts to become emotionally burned out. You can’t save everyone, let go of the extremes strictly outside of your control.
Those inflicting pain and suffering upon others aren’t happy, they don’t live a virtuous life, it absolutely sucks to be them, which is why the greatest revenge is to not be like them.
Become content with the impact you’re making within your control, do the absolute best you can, and make sure to stay on the bright-side. There’s still good in the world worth fighting for.
