Let’s just say Blake Lively was not amused.
I don’t know about you, but I am seriously enjoying this little media tour Ryan Reynolds has been doing lately to promote his new movie Deadpool. Though the actor typically leads a pretty private life with
the luckiest woman on the planet Blake Lively, he’s been opening up a lot lately about life with his wife and 1-year-old daughter James.
Last night was no exception. When Reynolds swung by Late Night with Seth Meyers, the host segued into talking about proper delivery room etiquette for dads. (Meyers himself is expecting a baby this year with wife, Alexi Ashe, so he probably thought he could use the advice.) That’s when Reynolds shared a tip on what not to do, and admitted that he kinda sorta pissed his own wife off by playing Marvin Gaye’s “Let’s Get It On” — while Lively was mid-contraction.
Apparently, she was not amused.
Let’s be real, though — singing “Let’s Get It On” in the delivery room is kind of hilarious. Okay, okay; maybe only if you’re not the one giving birth. But personally, I wouldn’t care what Ryan Reynolds did in the delivery room if I were Lively. The fact that I was giving birth to Ryan Reynolds’ child would be enough to make those contractions feel like a walk in the park.
Reynolds continued on by offering this last sage piece of advice to Meyers, and all other new dads: “Just do the dirty work, man. A human being will exit your wife. She’s done enough.”
That’s like the truest thing any man has ever said.
