’47 Meters Down’ Bad special effects really hurt this film
I get to see a lot of movies every year. Only a few of the films I see are actually good. When I heard of 47 Meters Down, I had my doubts about it. When they offered me a review copy, I decided to give it a shot. Here is what I thought of this movie.
You can read the plot for 47 Meters Down here:
Sisters Lisa (Mandy Moore) and Kate (Claire Holt) become trapped at the bottom of the ocean when a diving expedition to observe sharks goes horribly wrong. When the cable attaching the cage sinks to the bottom of the ocean, the sisters must figure out a way to get back to safety battling injuries, lack of oxygen, and worst of all, bloodthirsty, great white sharks.
I wasn’t a fan of 47 Meters Down. It starts off alright, but gets awful pretty fast. Once they decide to go into a rusty cage to see sharks on a rickety boat, it is clear what is going to happen. One of the characters has a bad feeling about the whole thing from the get go, and it would have been wise to listen to her. But nope, that would be far too simple! Instead, they end up in a terrible situation where it seems likely they won’t make it out of alive. The special effects are terrible, it was obvious the sharks were CGI, and not the good kind. The ending was okay, but not as good as it could have been. This is the first film in a while I would not recommend seeing. Yet if you want to learn more about 47 Meters Down click on this website.
