‘Darkest Hour’ Tells a story about a great man in a time of crisis
I like Gary Oldman as an actor. He was great in The Dark Knight trilogy, and I liked his performance in The Space Between Us. When I heard of Darkest Hour, I thought it looked pretty good. I was able to see this movie early and this is what I thought of it.
You can read the plot for Darkest Hour here:
During the early days of World War II, with the fall of France imminent, Britain faces its darkest hour as the threat of invasion looms. As the seemingly unstoppable Nazi forces advance, and with the Allied army cornered on the beaches of Dunkirk, the fate of Western Europe hangs on the leadership of the newly-appointed British Prime Minister Winston Churchill (Gary Oldman). While maneuvering his political rivals, he must confront the ultimate choice: negotiate with Hitler and save the British people at a terrible cost or rally the nation and fight on against incredible odds.
Darkest Hour gets 6.5/10. It was an alright film, but I had a few issues with it. The movie is longer than it needed to be, and takes a long time to get to one pivotal moment. Gary Oldman does a great job playing Winston Churchill, and brings everything needed to play this person the right way. There is a lot of drama, and a bit of funny comedic moments too. This won’t be a movie for everyone, but I think some people will really like it. To learn more about Darkest Hour click on this website.
