Disney ‘Epic Mickey’ The Comics Collection Is available now
I have had a great time reading some Disney graphic novel collections lately. Each one has told some wonderful stories and they have been a true joy to see each one unfold before my eyes. I never played either of the Epic Mickey video games, but heard they were good. When I heard a collection of comics was being released on this series, I hoped I might get to read it. I was able to get a review copy of this collection and here is what I thought of it.
You can read the plot for this collection here:
Dive into graphic novel retellings of the video game classics Epic Mickey and Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two—and the “Tales of Wasteland” miniseries that came first! Join Mickey Mouse for wild thrills in Wasteland, a parallel Disney world where Oswald the Lucky Rabbit and Gremlin Gus are the big stars… and Donald Duck, Daisy, and Goofy are animatronics!
Mickey unwittingly upends Oswald’s world by accidentally unleashing the Shadow Blot—a monstrous, magical version of Mouseton’s Phantom Blot. Can Mickey join forces with Oswald to defeat this colossus and its minions… or will the shady Mad Doctor and an entire family of Peg Leg Petes drive them apart?
Comics legend Peter David (The Incredible Hulk, X-Factor, The Little Mermaid, Star Trek novels) and Italian Disney artists Claudio Sciarrone (Duck Avenger), Paolo Mottura, and Fabrizio Petrossi bring us an amazing series of Wasteland adventures!
I had a hard time putting this graphic novel collection down. When Mickey finds themselves in an odd looking place, he bumps into characters who have been forgotten. One of them is not happy to see them, but when this place needs help taking down a powerful foe he is glad to help them defeat it. Along the way these characters learn a few lessons and some new friendships are formed. Once this collection comes to a close it looks like the adventures aren’t over just yet.
