Catt Sadler had worked for E! for 12 years, and in a post on her website said her time there was a dream come true. But this year she was given additional hosting responsibilities and was told by a company executive that there was a “massive disparity in pay” between herself and a male employee in a similar position. Apparently, he had been making nearly twice as much money for multiple years, and when Sadler brought this to the attention of E! brass, they refused to budge on a salary bump. In response, she resigned and took her story public, which compelled an E! spokesperson statement to the BBC that read, “E! compensates employees fairly and appropriately based on their roles, regardless of gender.” Sadler has since gone on Instagram to ask supporters not to aim their ire at the male co-host in question, Jason Kennedy, who she said “has done right by me in every respect. It hurts me deeply to see that some are vilifying him.” Over the last day, @IAmCattSadler has a 73 percent positive score on Twitter. –Alex Shultz
