Ghostbusters has plenty of ghost busting action for the whole family to enjoy
Ever since I heard that an all female Ghostbusters was being made I have been watching this film closely. When I saw some of the first photos I was intrigued yet not sure if it would be good or not. Once I saw the teaser trailer my heart sank. The jokes all fell flat, the cast seemed to work awful together and there was nothing that got me excited for this movie. I was sure this movie was going to bomb long before it was due to come out. Thankfully many months later a better trailer came out that renewed some hope for this reboot. I was lucky to finally get to see Ghostbusters earlier this week and here is what I thought of it.
You can read the plot for Ghostbusters here:
Erin Gilbert (Kristen Wiig) and Abby Yates (Melissa McCarthy) are a pair of unheralded authors who write a book positing that ghosts are real. A few years later, Gilbert lands a prestigious teaching position at Columbia University, but her book resurfaces and she is laughed out of academia. When ghosts invade Manhattan, Gilbert reunites with Yates, teaming up with a nuclear engineer, Jillian Holtzmann (Kate McKinnon), and a subway worker, Patty Tolan (Leslie Jones), to save the world from a mysterious evil and powerful demon known as Rowan (Neil Casey) who can exercise control over human forms.
I was pleasantly surprised by Ghostbusters. Ghostbusters starts off slow and is a little ridiculous at times but once the whole team comes together that is where the movie began to get good for me. The ghosts all look amazing and you can tell plenty of details were taken to make them look unique and scary too. The new weapons were also a nice touch and no matter how strange some of them looked each one had a purpose and none of them went to waste. I also really liked the plot for this new Ghostbusters. It was clever, original and brought some awesome twists and turns that overall made for a fun adventure for this new generation of Ghostbusters. There were also plenty of surprise cameos that thankfully never came off as out of place or unnecessary. It is obvious Paul Feig made sure each one made sense and I got a kick out of all of them. It is not the best film in the series but this Ghostbusters has plenty of things for all ages to like. To learn more about this new chapter in the Ghostbusters saga check out this website.
Ghostbusters has earned 6.5/10. I didn’t love it but I did like it and I certainly didn’t hate it. Scenes that seemed too excessive or ridiculous in the teaser were actually pretty good and some of them made me laugh hard. The best thing about this Ghostbusters reboot is that it does a good job standing on its own feet. It was clear to me not only did the cast have a blast working together and it shows in their performances. Keep an eye out for some cool surprises at the end of the credits, trust me it is worth the wait. Even though the new theme song is not so great the rest of the soundtrack makes up for it and adds that spark to make many scenes that much more fun to watch. It could be a giant summer hit thanks to the loyal fanbase this series has. This is a great movie you need to take your family to see this weekend.
If you liked the previous Ghostbusters films you will love this reboot. People who like any of these actresses must see this movie, they give some of their best performances to date here. Ghostbusters comes out this Friday. You can like Ghostbusters on Facebook and follow the movie on Twitter and Instagram.

I think I’d rather give my money to a company that doesnt think insulting their audience and calling them a bigot for not being interested in their product is a viable marketing strategy.
Especially if it’s only a “6.5/10”
6.5/10? Not super promising and I already wasn’t too excited about it. Doesn’t seem worth paying for; especially if we’re taking all 3 of the older kids (who all love the originals).
I gave it my rating because it was only okay. I wanted to love it but left only liking it. It could have been a heck of a lot worse though
