‘Kidnap’ A good premise, but a terrible film
I like Halle Berry as an actor. She has played all kinds of roles, in many different films. So when I heard about Kidnap, I was curious to check it out. It wasn’t what I expected it to be. I was able to see this film early and here is what I thought of it.
You can read the plot for Kidnap here:
A typical afternoon in the park turns into a nightmare for single mother Karla Dyson (Halle Berry) when kidnappers snatch her young son Frankie. With no cellphone and no time to wait for police, Dyson jumps into her car to follow the vehicle that holds Frankie. As the pursuit turns into a frantic, high-speed chase, Karla must risk everything and push herself to the limit to save her beloved child.
Kidnap had the potential to be a good film, but this just isn’t the case. Although it does have a few edge of your seat moments, it wasn’t enough to make me like this movie. It goes over the top almost immediately, and stays there right to the end. It is way too overly dramatic, and rather unrealistic too. Definitely one of the worst Halle Berry films I have ever seen.
Kidnap gets 3/10. The plot is just a mess, and things get ridiculous pretty often. Although I am sure many parents are tempted to do something like this, I doubt any would take it this far. There were many times where things happen that are too far fetched to be believable. Some people may enjoy this film, but they will be few and far between.
Kidnap comes out this Friday. You can follow this movie on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
